The world and history of the SeaWild was invented by Jonathan Nane, it exists
entirely within his mind, and the Society has sent the Visitor there to rescue Jonathan’s
self-manifestation (named Nam) and bring Jonathan back to reality. Or the
Society just wants to conquer the SeaWild and its history.
Or the Society might be in Nane’s mind too. Or in the Visitor’s mind. Or
someone else’s.
Or perhaps it doesn’t matter.
